3Delight for Maya | Physical Sun & Sky

3Delight for Maya 6.0.3 was released a few days ago.
I'll quote maxime here:
On top of the bug fixes, there is now support for Hypershade networks connected to the render camera's "miEnvironment" plug, and they auto-generate env maps for the GI effects. This allows support for the physical sky Mental Ray node with the Global Illumination effects of the Render Pass. See the "physicalSky.ma" scene in the examples folder for a simple setup showing how this works.
I finally had the chance to set up something more than spheres to show you how it looks (you may even recognize something I've used before):

Dia de Muertos is approaching and I like these days (pan de muerto, cempazuchitl, atole agrio - typical food); When I was a kid I remember reading "Francisca y La Muerte" and since that moment, I always thought of death as somebody with a tedious and repetitive job that sometimes can have a crappy day. On the other side, the idea of your beloved ones coming again to eat some mole, tamales, tacos, drink tequila, pulque or just water with you is very cool idea - the Mictecacihuatl way, of course!

That's why there's a calavera in that render... Ok, back to 3delight :)

One thing to notice from the example in the 3Delight for Maya package is check values in gamma (render pass) and "Multiply" in the sun light.

The animation took about 3 minutes per frame, using mia_material and mia_physicalsky shaders only in combination with Global Illumination, motion blur and depth of field from 3delight. No post effects in the video (only in the still frame).

The flags are from a picture in the "Secuestro Express" post from saner -> http://saner-dsr.blogspot.com/2011/08/secuestro-express-midcity-art-saner.html

And of course, models by juan carlos lepe (the other monkey). Flags and flag poles made by me ;)
